This CME activity consists of the ASGE Standards of Practice Guideline, Management of Ingested Foreign Bodeis and Food Impactions, followed by evidence-based multiple choice questions. 

Target Audience:

Practicing gastrointestinal endoscopists and surgeons, as well as other practitioners interested in advancing their knowledge in the ASGE’s Standards of Practice Guidelines. 

Learning Objectives:

 As a result of completing this activity, physicians will be able to:

  1. Identify devices which facilitate removal of sharp-sided ingested foreign bodies.
  2. Determine the correct time for removal of ingested magnets.
  3. Recognize indications for emergent vs. urgent endoscopy to remove an ingested foreign body.
  4. Determine the management of an ingested sharp object from the gastrointestinal tract and describe the preferred endoscopic technique.
