This CME activity consists of the ASGE video, Colonoscopic Polypectomy Part 1 (DV030), followed by a post-assessment and evaluation.

This DVD set reviews colorectal polyp evaluation and treatment in detail. Polypectomy technique for resection of large, small and difficult polyps is discussed and demonstrated. Ancillary techniques reviewed include detachable snares, clipping and tattooing. Current post-polypectomy surveillance is discussed.

Target Audience:

Practicing gastrointestinal endoscopists, gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows and trainees, medical residents, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of completing this activity, physicians will be able to:

  • Distinguish the morphologic and histologic types of polyps using their gross morphology and different types of light and staining during real time colonoscopy.  
  • Recognize and identify ways to minimize risk in polypectomy, including in patients on anticoagulation and anti-platelet agents.
  • List and use different polypectomy techniques based on polyp type.
